Main 9th Muharram procession held peacefully in Kakul Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) The main 9th Muharram procession was held peacefully in Kakul on Thursday, with a large number of mourners participating to pay tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.

The procession was taken out from Imambargah Mazar-e-Bewatan Sarkar in Kakul and followed its designated route before concluding at the same location amid strict security arrangements.

Mourners participated in various religious rituals, including elegy recitations, chest beating, and traditional mourning processions. Several mourning groups also joined the procession.

Police, Elite Force personnel, and other law enforcement agencies remained deployed along the route, while security officials monitored entry and exit points to ensure the safety of participants. The district administration had made comprehensive arrangements to maintain law and order throughout the event.

Addressing the gathering, Nifaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafaria Hazara Division General Secretary Nazar Hussain Jadun Advocate said the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala serve as a timeless example of truth, justice, and resistance against oppression. He said the message of Karbala inspires people to stand for righteousness and uphold the principles of justice.

He also stressed the need for unity, brotherhood, and harmony among Muslims, saying that adherence to the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) can help promote peace, love, and justice in society.

Special prayers were offered at the conclusion of the procession for the country's peace, stability, and prosperity, as well as for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs of Karbala.
