Main Ashura processions proceed peacefully across Chiniot under tight security

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) The main Ashura procession in Chiniot district proceeded peacefully along its designated routes on Friday under stringent security arrangements, with thousands of mourners participating in commemorative rituals amid heightened police vigilance.

According to the district administration, eight historic golden Tazias, each carrying deep religious and cultural significance—reached Maidan Tarkhanan through their traditional routes. Processions of 35 Alams and Zuljinah also joined the central procession before concluding peacefully at their designated destination.

In Rajoya, the main Ashura procession comprising 72 Tazias reached Maidan Karbala after passing through its scheduled route.

The procession also included 65 symbolic Alams and 14 symbolic Zuljinah, with mourners observing the rituals in an orderly and peaceful manner.

A heavy police contingent remained deployed along the entire procession routes to ensure the safety of participants and maintain law and order. Authorities continuously monitored the processions and religious gatherings through CCTV and drone cameras as part of comprehensive security measures implemented for Ashura across the district.
