PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday foiled a major drug smuggling attempt here, seizing 76,800 grams of hashish and arresting two accused.
According to official details, the Excise Police Peshawar Region conducted the operation on actionable intelligence and intercepted a vehicle transporting narcotics on the Islamabad main road near H-Gol Chowk.
The operation was supervised by Excise and Taxation Officer (Counter Narcotics Operations) Majid Khan and Circle Officer Hamidullah, while the ground action was led by SHO Excise Police Station Peshawar Region Imad Khan.
During the search of the vehicle (registration No. LEC-6325), a total of 76,800 grams of hashish was recovered.
The suspects, identified as Ajmal Abbas son of Muhammad Ameer and Muhammad Sohail son of Muhammad Ali, residents of Kabirwala, District Khanewal, were arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered against the accused at the Excise Police Station Peshawar Region, and further investigation is underway to trace and dismantle the network involved in the smuggling attempt.
Officials reiterated their commitment to continue operations against drug traffickers with full intensity to curb narcotics and safeguard the youth.
