Major PRA crackdown targets tax evaders in various cities

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has carried out extensive enforcement actions against tax defaulters across various cities of Punjab.

As a result of non-payment of taxes and tampering with official records, nine business premises were sealed, while warning notices were issued to several other food outlets, PRA spokesman told media here Monday.

In Lahore, three outlets of a well-known food chain were sealed after PRA teams detected manipulation and tampering in tax records. In Rawalpindi, the offices of two builders were sealed for failing to pay due taxes.

In Faisalabad, four housing societies were served notices for non-payment of taxes, and enforcement actions were taken against their offices.

Heavy penalties were also imposed on individuals and businesses involved in fraudulent tax declarations and failure to submit tax returns within the prescribed time.

PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra stated that strict action will be taken against businesses that fail to issue invoices under the Point of Sale (POS) system. He further said that notices are being issued to those involved in tax fraud and causing losses to the national exchequer through deceptive practices.

The Chairman emphasized that PRA is implementing a zero-tolerance policy against persistent tax defaulters and will continue enforcement actions to ensure compliance with tax laws across the province.
