BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) A meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza on Monday reviewed progress
on a mega development project under the Punjab Development Programme of Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Officials said the Rs.6.816 billion project includes laying a 94-km sewerage network, establishing 40 stormwater drainage points, and installing two wastewater treatment plants to improve sanitation and reduce environmental pollution.
Plans also include construction of a 26-cusec disposal station, rehabilitation of two existing stations, installation of 447 manhole covers, and a 550-kilowatt solarisation scheme.
Six parks will be upgraded, while 55 km of tuff tile pavements, 13.39 km of asphalt roads, and 200 street lights will be added to enhance urban infrastructure.
The meeting also reviewed progress on Storm Water Drainage System Package-8, with work underway at multiple sites, including storage tank development at Allama Iqbal Park and Jalandhar Colony.
The DC directed authorities to ensure timely completion while maintaining quality standards, reiterating the administration’s commitment to improved civic facilities.
