MAkkah, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) The Emirate of Makkah has released comprehensive details highlighting the historical and architectural significance of Masjid-e-Ayesha (also known as Masjid-e-Taneem), one of the most revered mosques in Islamic history.
According to the released details, this historic mosque is situated approximately 7.5 kilometers north of the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram).
The Primary spiritual significance of this site dates back to 9 AH during the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat-ul-Wada), when the Mother of the Believers, Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqua (Radhi Allahu Anha), donned her Ihram for Umrah from this very location. Positioned at the boundary of the Haram area, the mosque serves as a central Miqat (the station for assuming Ihram) for Muslim pilgrims from across the globe, including Pakistan, who wish to perform additional Umrahs during their stay in Makkah.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Historical records indicate that during the reign of the Abbasid Caliph Al-Mutawakkil (240 AH), the mosque was originally built on a modest area of 6,000 square meters.
Following extensive expansions carried out by the Saudi government over the years, its total area has now reached 84,000 square meters. The current structure of the mosque features towering doors and unique windows, seamlessly blending modern Islamic architecture with ancient traditional motifs. The complex also offers state-of-the-art facilities for pilgrims, including dedicated areas for ablution, bathing, and assuming the Ihram.
