Man arrested for making fake robbery call

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) Police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly making a hoax call to the 15 emergency police helpline and staging a robbery drama to implicate his opponents in a false criminal case.

According to a press release issued by DPO office, the accused, identified as Tauqeer Abbas, had reported to the Bhalwal Sadar police that three armed individuals had snatched his mobile phone and Rs 200,000 in cash.

Upon receiving the information, policemen reached the site and conducted an investigation of the scene.

During questioning, the police team observed significant contradictions in the caller's statements, leading to further interrogation.

Under more questioning, the accused Tauqeer Abbas confessed that no robbery had occurred and he had orchestrated the event to settle personal scores with his rivals.

The police registered a case against the accused and initiated legal proceedings.
