Man awarded life imprisonment in murder, hurt cases

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) A district court on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment along with heavy fines to an accused in murder and hurt cases following an effective investigation and prosecution by Rawalpindi Police.

The court sentenced convicted Mehboob Hussain to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 200,000 as compensation in the murder case.

In the hurt case, he was ordered to pay Rs 491,433 as Diyat and Rs 10,000 as Daman.

According to the prosecution, the convict had opened fire over a domestic dispute in April 2023 in the jurisdiction of Kallar Syedan Police Station, killing one person and injuring another.

The court awarded the sentence after taking into account solid evidence and effective prosecution of the case.

City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani appreciated SSP Investigation and the investigation and legal teams for ensuring conviction of the accused.
