Man tortures, shoots mother

LAHORE:

A man was arrested after allegedly subjecting his 55-year-old mother to violence and shooting her over a domestic dispute in Shadbagh.

The suspect became enraged during an altercation and allegedly attacked his mother Zubaida Bibi with an iron rod and bricks before shooting her with a pistol. Investigators said he also dragged the woman by her hair before opening fire, leaving her severely injured.

The police responded to a emergency call made to the Helpline 15 and reached the spit shortly after the incident.

The suspect was arrested on the spot and a weapon was seized from his possession.

The injured woman was shifted to a hospital, where doctors said she had suffered injuries to her head and shoulders consistent with physical assault along with a bullet wound on her leg.

Police officials said a case had been registered against the suspect.

According to investigators, the suspect had previously been booked in a case of violence against his mother and had allegedly attacked her again after being released from prison.
