Mansehra police arrest accused within 24 hours in cricket match firing case

MANSEHRA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) The Nawazabad Police Mansehra have arrested the main suspect involved in a fatal firing incident during a cricket match within 24 hours, recovering the weapon used in the crime.

According to police sources, the incident took place on May 29 in the Jabri Kayan area, falling under the jurisdiction of Nawazabad Police Station, where a firing occurred during a cricket match. As a result, Muhammad Junaid sustained serious injuries and was immediately shifted to hospital. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, the accused fled the scene.

Police registered a case immediately and launched a swift investigation and search operation to apprehend the suspect.

SHO Nawazabad, Waheed Khan, along with his team, used modern investigative techniques, intelligence gathering, and conducted multiple raids at different locations. Their efforts led to the arrest of the main accused, identified as Tanveer son of Abdul Qayyum, within 24 hours of the incident.

Police also recovered a 30-bore pistol used in the crime from the possession of the arrested suspect.

Further investigation is underway, and legal proceedings are being carried out against the accused.
