MUZAFFARABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Prime Minister, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Faisal Mumtaz Rathore said operation “Bunyan um Marsoos” showcased Pakistan's military strength, national solidarity and an unwavering commitment to defend the county's ideological and geographical frontiers.

The AJK premier expressed these views while addressing the main ceremony held here on Wednesday evening to mark the first anniversary of the Mark e Haq.

"The successful operation has become a defining chapter in Pakistan’s history that shattered the enemy’s arrogance", the PM remarked.

He said operation Bunyan um Marsoos was not only a military achievement but also a moral victory, as Pakistan had always preferred peace without compromising on its dignity and self-respect. He said during this battle the armed forces and the people of Pakistan stood united against the Indian aggression.

Pakistan, he said, had always strived for peace but its earnest desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness. He warned that any future misadventure would be met with greater strength, unity and determination. Referring to the backdrop of the conflict, he said, India used a false flag operation orchestrated in Indian occupied Kashmir as a pretext to launch unprovoked attacks on different areas of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

He said innocent civilians were targeted in an attempt to destabilise regional peace. The Prime Minister paid tribute to military leadership, particularly the Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir for successful execution of the operation that not only changed the region's war dynamics but also forced the enemy to retreat in humiliation.

He said the Pakistan Army under the leadership of Gen. Munir thwarted enemy designs through professionalism, modern warfare strategy and effective use of technology. The Prime Minister, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, said the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy demonstrated exceptional coordination and successfully targeted key enemy positions with precision.

"All three forces fought bravely in the true spirit of Banyan um Marsoos while the entire nation stood at their back like an iron wall", he added. Referring to Pakistan’s growing stature, the Prime Minister said following the historic victory, the country had emerged as a responsible nuclear state playing an important role in regional and global affairs.

He said Pakistan’s peace efforts in easing tensions in the middle East and hosting important diplomatic engagements in Islamabad had enhanced its standing at the global level. Modern warfare, he said, was no longer confined to bullets and gunpowder alone, but it involves propaganda, misinformation and narrative-building. He said that India was attempting to destabilise the region through media campaigns and false narratives.

He, however, maintained that Pakistan was fully capable of defeating such conspiracies. Highlighting Pakistan’s support for Azad Kashmir, the Prime Minister said Islamabad had played a key role in strengthening the region’s defence, infrastructure and public welfare sectors.

He said Pakistan had provided financial assistance for roads, bridges, dams, educational institutions and healthcare projects, besides extending relief and rehabilitation support during natural disasters. Recalling the statement of the founding father Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the AJK premier said the Kashmir issue remained central to Pakistan’s foreign and defence policy.

He made it clear that the concept of Pakistan without Kashmir was incomplete. The Prime Minister also highlighted the human rights situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying that Kashmiris continued to face grave abuses, including house raids, extrajudicial arrests, enforced disappearances and prolonged detention of Hurriyat leaders.

Calling upon the United Nations and international human rights organisations to fulfil their responsibilities, the Prime Minister Rathore said Kashmir remained an unresolved dispute that poses a threat to regional peace. He stressed that the Kashmiri people must be granted their internationally recognised right, the right to

self-determination.

He reiterated his government's commitment to raise the issue of human rights violations in occupied Kashmir at every international forum. The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the people living along the Line of Control for standing firmly beside Pakistan’s armed forces during difficult times. He urged upon the nation to preserve unity while working towards a peaceful, secure and dignified future. The function was attended by senior civil and military officials as well as people hailing from different walks of life.
