KHANPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) A devastating jungle fire has erupted in the Raniwa forest area of Tehsil Khanpur due to unknown reasons, rapidly spreading across a vast stretch of woodland and causing severe damage to wildlife and natural habitat.

According to initial reports, the fire broke out suddenly and, fueled by dry weather conditions and strong winds, quickly spread to a large area of the forest. A significant portion of the forest is now engulfed in flames, making containment efforts extremely difficult.

Local sources and rescue teams confirm that a large number of wild animals and birds have reportedly been burnt alive in the blaze. The exact scale of wildlife loss is yet to be determined, but officials fear that the damage could be extensive due to the intensity and spread of the fire.

Upon receiving emergency alerts, Rescue 1122 teams, officials from the Wildlife Department, Forest Department, district administration, and local volunteers rushed to the site and launched joint firefighting operations.

However, the efforts are being hampered by extremely dry conditions, dense vegetation, and the rapid spread of fire across inaccessible terrain.

Officials say multiple teams are working simultaneously to control the blaze by creating firebreaks and using available firefighting resources, but the fire continues to spread in several pockets of the forest.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire, and an investigation is expected once the situation is brought under control. Meanwhile, residents in nearby areas have been advised to remain alert and avoid entering forest zones until the fire is fully extinguished.

Efforts are continuing on an emergency basis as firefighting teams struggle to contain the rapidly expanding blaze in the harsh weather conditions.
