Massive tree plantation drive launched

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2026) A large-scale tree plantation campaign has been launched in Multan to curb environmental

pollution and reduce rising temperatures.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem chaired a meeting of district departments and

directed the Parks and Horticulture Authority, Forest Department and all other line departments to carry out extensive plantation across the district.

He said special plantation drives would be conducted at brick kilns, educational institutions, factories and industrial areas.

The deputy commissioner said saplings would be planted along the city's entry and exit points, bypasses and highways. Miyawaki forests would also be established at various locations, he added.

Dr Faisal Saleem said the drive aimed to expand the green cover and restore ecological balance in the district. He directed all government departments to ensure plantation targets were achieved as per schedule.

He appealed to civil society, students and social organisations to actively participate in the plantation campaign.
