'May 28 laid foundation of Pakistan’s defensive strength, national dignity'

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th May, 2026) Youm-e-Takbeer was the historic milestone that transformed the country into an unassailable

nuclear power and reaffirmed before the world that Pakistani nation possessed the courage,

unity and capability to protect its freedom, territorial integrity and national prestige at all costs.

This was stated by Member Punjab Assembly Rana Ahmed Shahryar Khan while addressing

a cake-cutting ceremony held in connection with Youm-e-Takbeer here on Thursday.

He said that May 28 had become a lasting symbol of courage, determination and defensive

strength of Pakistani nation, adding that history would always remember the day in golden

words for restoring strategic balance in the region and strengthening Pakistan’s global standing.

He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had earned its political identity through

its commitment to national defense, democratic stability and the dignity of the country.

Rana Ahmad Shahryar Khan said that he first thanked Almighty Allah for blessing the nation

with such a proud and historic day. He said Youm-e-Takbeer was not merely a commemorative

occasion but a reflection of national honor, self-respect and independent defence capability.

He said that former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif won the respect and confidence

of the people because he always prioritized national interests during difficult times and played

a historic role in transforming Pakistan into a dignified and strong state.

When the decisive moment regarding Pakistan’s nuclear program arrived, Nawaz Sharif ignored

immense international pressure and responded to India’s five nuclear tests with six explosions,

making it clear to the world that Pakistan was a strong, sovereign and self-reliant state, he added.

He said the decision not only made Pakistan’s defense impregnable but also elevated the country’s

prestige across the Muslim world and the international community.

The MPA said that Pakistan proved on that day that any hostile intention against the country

would receive a firm and decisive response.

Referring to recent developments, Rana Ahmad Shahryar Khan said the same spirit of national

strength, confidence and strategic policy was reflected again on May 10, 2025 when Pakistan

firmly defended its position at the international level and reinforced the importance of its national

security and sovereignty.

He said that Pakistan had always demonstrated that while it desired peace, it would never

compromise on its defense and independence.

He further said that identity of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was linked with national construction,

economic development and defense of the country. The party did not believe in the politics of chaos

and confrontation but represented the spirit of May 28 and stood as a guardian of Pakistan’s security,

stability and integrity, he added.

He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz represented the ideology of May 28, not that of May 09.

Those associated with May 28 knew how to defend and strengthen the country, he added.

Later, a cake was cut to mark Youm-e-Takbeer while local PML-N leaders, party workers and

citizens participated in the event.

Special prayers were also offered for Pakistan’s security, progress, stability and defensive strength.
