May 28 nuclear tests historic day in Pakistan history: KP Chief Khateeb

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th May, 2026) Chief Khateeb Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi here on Thursday termed the nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998 as a golden chapter in Pakistan’s history.

He said the politicians, scientists, and military ledership who made the decision to carry out the nuclear tests deserved appreciation from the nation.

In a statement here, Maulana Qureshi said that those who conducted the May 28 nuclear explosions were benefactors of the nation and would always be remembered in the country’s history.

He further said that the Pakistani nation was celebrating three joys this Eid like, success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, and the anniversary of the May 28 nuclear tests.

The Chief Khateeb added that every Pakistani should feel proud that Pakistan was the only country in the Muslim world possessing nuclear capability, which was why no one dares to cast an evil eye on it.

He emphasized that Pakistan was the nation’s red line, and defending its armed forces and nuclear capability was the duty of every citizen.

Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi also said that Pakistan’s political and military leadership, especially the Field Marshal, General Syed Asim Munir, had played a commendable role in reducing tension between Iran and United States.

He warned those who think of weakening Pakistan that nothing but humiliation and disgrace awaited them. “Pakistan stands strong and will continue to stand strong, God willing,” he concluded.
