The infrastructure of Karachi is undergoing a tremendous change. On 7th April 2026, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab paid a visit to North Nazimabad to lay the foundation stone of Sakhi Hassan Road Karachi project. This project in itself solves the decades-long drainage crisis that has left people frustrated.

North Nazimabad Infrastructure

This project was developed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in order to convert the current street to a dual lane that will be upgraded to modern standard. The Sakhi Hassan Road Karachi road has a length of 0.883 kilometers (2,900 feet) and a width of 30 feet. This crucial connection ties Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan and Shahrah-e-Sher Shah Suri.

A new 0.883km drainage line is being given priority by engineers. In the past, the Sakhi Hassan Graveyard along with its adjacent streets were flooded with rainwater on the hilly terrain. This new structure will give normal disposal of water and this long period of summer submerged area of Shadman and North Nazimabad will come to an end.

A Rs140 Million Investment in Connectivity

The project is estimated to cost Rs140 million. It is part of the larger KMC plan area of rehabilitating 26 internal roads within the city as part of Package-08. Mayor Wahab gave a 90-day completion deadline. He stressed that delivering infrastructural Karachi is the year of 2026.

The city is today actively developing by an amount of Rs68 billion. This particular road work is going to ease the traffic and will offer improved traveling amenities to the commuters. A better connectivity usually poses a birch start to the increased business operations in the area and this is a business gain to North Nazimabad Town.

The Mayor reinstated that quality provision of facilities is the foremost role that the KMC plays. However, the administration is looking at long term solutions now, and not quick fixes in spite of the hurdles it had to face in the past in order to maintain its financial stability. This project will give the internal residential streets a free connection with the Karachi traffic arteries.
