GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) A two-day workshop on Media Literacy and Digital Rights commenced at the Hafiz Hayat Campus of the University of Gujrat (UOG) to raise awareness about responsible social media use and digital rights among students.
According to university sources, the workshop was organized by the Centre for Media and Communication Studies in collaboration with the European Union and the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Dean Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Zahid Yousaf highlighted the importance of verifying information before sharing it on digital platforms.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said the rapid flow of information on social media had made it essential for students to differentiate between authentic and misleading content.
Workshop focal person Dr Muhammad Yousaf delivered a session on information disorder and discussed the challenges posed by misinformation and fake news.
Legal expert Farrukh Mushtaq Chaudhry and faculty member Dr. Faiza Bajwa also conducted sessions on digital literacy, media ethics and online rights.
