LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) Medical experts at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) have advised citizens to maintain a balanced diet and adopt precautionary measures during Eid-ul-Fitr to safeguard their health.
According to experts, the human body becomes accustomed to a disciplined eating routine during Ramadan, and a sudden intake of heavy and rich foods on Eid can put excessive strain on the digestive system.
Assistant Professor of Medicine Dr. Muhammad Maqsood and consultant Gynecologist Dr. Laila Shafiq warned that excessive consumption of sweets and fatty foods may lead to indigestion, acidity, and complications for patients suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and joint pain.
They urged the public to prioritize their health while celebrating Eid to fully enjoy the festive occasion.
Dr. Laila Shafiq particularly advised pregnant women to take special care of their diet and rest. She noted that an unbalanced diet and excessive intake of sugary foods can negatively affect both mother and child. She recommended adequate water intake along with the use of simple and nutritious food.
Medical experts further emphasized that the true happiness of Eid lies in good health. Citizens were encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle, ensure moderation in eating habits, and incorporate light physical activity such as walking into their daily routine even during the festive days.
