Meeting discuses establishment of health facility at Kohati Plaza

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) An important meeting was held regarding the transfer of Kohati Plaza to the Health Department for the establishment and early operationalization of a modern healthcare facility.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister for Health, Khaleeq ur Rehman, and the Minister for Local Government.

Senior officials from the relevant departments attended the meeting, where various legal, administrative, and operational aspects of transferring Kohati Plaza to the Health Department were discussed in detail, along with a comprehensive way forward.

Minister for Health Khaleeq ur Rehman stated that ensuring the provision of quality and timely healthcare services, especially to the inner-city population, remains a top priority of the government.

He emphasized that establishing a hospital at Kohati Plaza would not only provide accessible healthcare services at the local level but would also significantly reduce the burden on major tertiary care hospitals.

During the meeting, both Ministers directed the Local Government Department and the Health Department to actively pursue the matter on a priority basis and complete all necessary formalities.

They were instructed to prepare and submit a comprehensive summary to the Provincial Cabinet for an appropriate and timely decision.

The Minister for Local Government also highlighted the urgent need for establishing a healthcare facility in the area, stating that it would ensure the availability of essential medical services at the doorstep of the inner-city population.

It was further noted that the proposed hospital would help reduce patient load on major hospitals, particularly Lady Reading Hospital and Naseerullah Babar Memorial Hospital, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the healthcare system.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both departments were directed to finalize and submit their recommendations to the Cabinet within the current week to ensure timely deliberation and decision-making on this important public welfare initiative.
