Meeting discuss affairs of provincial youth department

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Chairman Standing Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Sports, Iftikhar Ullah here on Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss affairs and working of provincial sports and youth affairs department.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister on Sports Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, MPAs Farzana Shireen and Aimen Jaleel Jan, Secretary Sports Muhammad Asif, Director General Sports, Tashfeen Haider and other officials of the department.

Officials from the Sports and Youth Affairs Department gave a detailed briefing to the Chairman, Advisor, and assembly members on administrative, financial and operational matters. The briefing covered key departments including the Directorate General Sports, DG Sports Merged Districts, Ehsaas Naujawan Program, Directorate of Youth Affairs and Directorate of Works besides ongoing development projects.

DG Sports informed the participants about sports activities held across the province, ongoing development schemes and upcoming matches. He also highlighted initiatives such as inter-madrassa competitions, facilities for transgender individuals, Zamung Kor Model school (for orphans), sports complexes, youth centers and construction of grounds in merged districts.

Addressing the meeting, the Spots Advisor directed that records of all land-related cases for sports grounds be submitted for prompt resolution through coordination with elected representatives. He added that work on sports grounds at the tehsil level is ongoing across the province.

He emphasized that providing sports facilities to youth is among the top priorities of the provincial government stating that youth are the country’s greatest asset and efforts are underway for their development.

Chairman of the Committee reiterated that all available resources would be utilized to provide facilities to youth. He also directed the construction of walking tracks for senior citizens.

The meeting also concurred to invite officials from Planning and Development and Finance departments in next meeting for further coordination.
