ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The kick-off meeting for the feasibility study, master planning, and detailed design services of the proposed Greenfield Airport Sukkur was held here on Wednesday, and formally launched a major aviation infrastructure initiative for upper Sindh.
The project was being executed by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) in partnership with an international, local joint venture led by M/s M2P Consulting GmbH (Germany) as Lead consultant. The consortium included M/s Leit-Werk Limited (United Kingdom) as Foreign Expert, supported by local firms M/s Indus Associated Consultants (Lahore) and M/s Cosmic Engineering Consultants (Islamabad).
The meeting was chaired by Director General PAA Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed, and attended by senior leadership including Deputy DG (Works and Development) Sumair Saeed, Director Planning and Development Ghulam Abbas Sheikh, and other officers.
Representatives from regional administration, government departments, aviation stakeholders, and the business community also participated.
Local officials and business leaders expressed strong support for the project, with discussions focused on ensuring the development aligns with the region’s economic and connectivity needs. The consultants briefed participants about the comprehensive work plan, covering feasibility assessments, master planning, and design development, followed by an interactive session to gather stakeholder input.
The proposed Greenfield Airport was envisioned as a transformative project aimed at strengthening regional connectivity, boosting trade and investment, and promoting tourism and economic growth in upper Sindh and surrounding areas.
The meeting marked a significant milestone in advancing the development of a modern, efficient, and sustainable aviation facility for Sukkur.
