Meeting held to resolve issues relating to Regi Model Town dispute

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud here Thursday chaired a meeting to address the long standing issues related to Regi Model Town.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Sanaullah, Deputy Commissioner Khyber, Bilal Rao, Additional Director General Peshawar Development Authority Sahibzada Muhammad Tariq officials from the Revenue Department and members of the Kokikhel tribe.

It held detailed discussions on resolving disputes related to Zone I, Zone II, and Zone V of Regi Model Town, ensuring relief for affected individuals and guaranteeing rightful ownership and compensation to landowners.

Addressing the participants, Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud stated that further delay in resolving this issue would not be tolerated. He directed that weekly meetings be held to ensure steady progress toward a sustainable solution. He expressed confidence that a practical and lasting resolution would soon be achieved.

He noted that due to administrative responsibilities during the holy month of Ramazan, sufficient deliberation was not

done assuring that efforts would now be intensified to resolve the issue promptly.

During the meeting, the Revenue Department’s expert committee presented its report about their efforts. It was unanimously decided that, in addition to Revenue Department experts, specialists from the Geological Survey of

Pakistan would be engaged to ensure accurate and transparent demarcation to eliminate any ambiguity through

technical assessment.

The Commissioner also announced to visit disputed area next week along with relevant experts and officials to assess ground realities and expedite the resolution process.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue cooperation and consensus to permanently resolve the dispute, ensure justice for affected parties and pave the way for development in the area.
