Meeting reviewed preparedness ahead of monsoon season

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Rawalpindi district administration held a high-level meeting to review preparedness measures ahead of the upcoming monsoon season and potential flooding.

The meeting, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Abdul Rehman Khan on Thursday, assessed the district’s flood response plan, including staff availability, machinery and equipment, inter-agency coordination, and the readiness of relief camps.

Officials from relevant departments reviewed responsibilities and the situation in vulnerable low-lying and sensitive areas along rivers and streams.

Abdul Rehman Khan directed all departments to remain on high alert and ensure that rescue machinery, equipment, and personnel are fully operational to respond swiftly to any emergency.

"Protection of human lives and property requires advance planning and effective coordination among institutions," he said, adding that continuous monitoring of rivers and nullahs, public awareness campaigns, and provision of basic facilities at flood relief camps would be ensured.

He warned that no negligence would be tolerated and said the district administration would utilize all available resources to safeguard residents.
