Meeting reviews arrangements for Muharram

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Shoro, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abedin Memon and SSP Shahzeb Chachar reviewed security and other arrangements for the upcoming month of Muharram-ul-Harram at a meeting held at the mayor’s office here on Thursday.

The participants highlighted issues and concerns relating to the arrangements in their respective areas while detailed discussions were held on matters including supply of electricity and water,  sanitation, sewerage, road repairs, street lighting, healthcare services, ambulance availability and security measures.

The DC apprised the meeting that a dedicated WhatsApp coordination group consisting of all relevant departments had been activated to ensure immediate resolution of complaints and timely response to any emergency during Muharram. He directed all concerned departments to complete their preparations well in time and to maintain close coordination to facilitate mourners and the general public.

The SSP assured that comprehensive security arrangements would be made for all majalis and processions, particularly from seventh to tenth Muharram.

 Chachar said the police would take all necessary measures to maintain law and order and appealed to citizens to refrain from sharing sectarian, provocative or inflammatory content on social media and to report such material promptly.

The mayor told the meeting that special efforts were underway to address sanitation, drainage, street lighting, water supply, and other municipal issues. Shoro further stated that town-wise and taluka-level meetings would also be conducted to ensure timely resolution of local concerns.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment by the district administration, police, and municipal authorities to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram. 

The participants were assured that all necessary arrangements would be made to facilitate mourners and to maintain an atmosphere of peace, harmony and religious respect throughout the holy month.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Saba Israr, District Health Officer Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain, Assistant Commissioners of all 4 talukas and officers of relevant departments besides representatives of religious organizations and mourners groups attended.
