Met Office spokesperson Anjum Nazir says Karachi experienced a hot day on April 12, with the maximum temperature recorded at 39.5°C
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 14th, 2026) Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a gradual reduction in heat intensity in Karachi over the coming days, while ruling out any immediate possibility of a severe heatwave.
Met Office spokesperson Anjum Nazir said that Karachi experienced a hot day on April 12, with the maximum temperature recorded at 39.5°C. He said winds at the time were blowing from the northeast.
He added that sea breezes have now resumed in the city, which is expected to bring some relief. Over the next 8 to 10 days, Karachi is likely to experience relatively moderate conditions, with temperatures hovering around 35°C.
Anjum Nazir further stated that a slight drop of one to two degrees in temperature is expected on April 16, as partial cloud cover develops, helping reduce the intensity of the heat. However, he clarified that no rainfall is expected in Karachi during this period.
He said a western weather system is expected to enter the country on April 16, primarily affecting northern parts of Pakistan. While its main impact will remain in the upper regions, it may partially influence parts of Sindh, including Larkana and surrounding areas between April 16 and 18, bringing gusty winds and dust-raising conditions, with a slight chance of light rain. Widespread impact across Sindh is not expected.
The Met Office also warned that from April 16 to 18, heavy rain, strong winds, and hailstorms are likely in Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, and adjoining areas. Snowfall may also occur in higher mountainous regions during the same period.
The authorities have advised citizens to stay informed about weather updates and take precautionary measures, particularly in areas expected to experience severe weather conditions.
