RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) Punjab’s Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora on Wednesday said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif represented the voice of the oppressed and downtrodden segments of society.
The chief minister, he said, held minorities in high esteem and considered them a valued and integral part of society.
The minister was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Dream House Orphanage in Bahria Town Phase 8 here as chief guest.
Arora said serving orphans and underprivileged people reflected the highest ideals of humanity, adding that collective efforts were required for social and national development. He said the government was prioritising the protection of minority rights and the empowerment of women.
Referring to regional tensions, he said India had imposed war on Pakistan in May last year and the Pakistan Army had responded befittingly, adding that the entire nation stood united with its armed forces.
Arora also visited Krishna Temple in Rawalpindi, where members of the Hindu community apprised him of issues related to repair work. He directed the authorities concerned to expedite the renovation.
Later, he visited Haveli Sujan Singh and reviewed the ongoing development work. He said that, in line with the vision of the Punjab Government, beautification and restoration of historical places of worship were under way.
Members of the Provincial Assembly Asma Naz Abbasi and Tahira Mushtaq, along with officials of relevant departments, were also present on the occasion.
