Minister Bharth chairs meeting on axle load management, orders comprehensive survey of weigh stations

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth chaired an important meeting to review axle load management on highways across Punjab.

The meeting was attended by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, the Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries and other relevant officers.

During the briefing, the minister was apprised of existing laws, load management mechanisms, and the network of weigh stations established across the province. He was also informed about operational procedures and enforcement arrangements in place to regulate heavy traffic.

The minister directed that a comprehensive survey of the existing load management system be conducted and instructed that relevant laws be reviewed in detail to develop a clear and effective framework for future implementation. He further ordered the designation of a C&W officer to oversee and carry out the assigned task in a structured manner.

Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth also sought a detailed report from field formations regarding the current operational status of weigh stations across Punjab, along with comprehensive documentation on the condition, structure, and infrastructure of these facilities.

He emphasized that overloading on Punjab’s highways would not be tolerated under any circumstances, stressing that strict enforcement is essential to ensure the durability of road infrastructure and to reduce the risk of traffic accidents.

The minister said that practical measures are being taken under the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab to strengthen axle load management, safeguard public infrastructure, and ensure safe and smooth travel facilities for citizens across the province.
