PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar Jehan has directed the Excise Department’s Narcotics Control Wing on Thursday to further intensify intelligence-based operations against drug traffickers.
He issued these directives while chairing a performance review meeting of the Narcotics Control Wing of the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department. The meeting was briefed on anti-narcotics operations and measures undertaken from January to May 2026.
Secretary Excise Khalid Ilyas, Director General Excise Abdul Haleem Khan, anti-narcotics officers, circle officers and SHOs of Excise Police Stations from across the province attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the provincial minister directed the officers to further enhance the effectiveness of anti-narcotics operations and stated that eradication of the menace of drugs was one of the foremost responsibilities of the Excise Department.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He instructed all police stations and squads to ensure intelligence-based and coordinated operations against drug dealers and elements involved in narcotics trafficking.
The minister also gave the officers a one-month deadline to demonstrate practical and improved performance.
Syed Fakhar Jehan said that the provincial government would provide all possible resources to strengthen the department. He added that eight more Excise Police Stations had been established across the province to further reinforce anti-narcotics efforts, while measures would also be taken to improve the salaries and facilities of the staff.
Officials of the Excise Department also paid tribute to the provincial minister for the establishment of new police stations aimed at strengthening anti-narcotics operations in the province.
