SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Labour and Human Resource Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt visited the Social Security Complex in Sialkot, where he distributed ration cards among workers and industrial laborers.
On the occasion, Commissioner Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) Zulfiqar Ali Kharl and Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Faisal Ikram were also present.
During the visit, Mansha Ullah Butt inspected various departments and reviewed the facilities being provided to workers.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the Punjab government is taking practical steps for the welfare of the labour class, adding that the ration card program is a key initiative in this regard.
He revealed that Rs. 20 billion has already been distributed among workers through ration cards, while the process of distributing an additional Rs 3 billion has also been initiated.
He further stated that more than 54,000 workers and industrial laborers in Sialkot have completed biometric verification for ration cards, reflecting strong trust in the program.
He added that during Razadan, deserving workers were provided Rs. 10,000 per month through ration cards, while under normal circumstances, a monthly subsidy of Rs 3,000 is being given to reduce the impact of inflation.
The minister emphasized that ration cards are the right of the labor class and their provision is an important mission of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to extend relief to maximum deserving individuals.
Meanwhile, Commissioner PESSI Zulfiqar Ali Kharl said that the ration card is not linked to any specific industrial unit but is a facility provided by the Punjab government for all registered workers and industrial laborers.
He urged workers to keep their cards safe and complete biometric verification promptly to receive timely financial assistance.
At the end of the visit, the provincial minister directed concerned officials to ensure transparency and effective implementation of the ration card program and to further accelerate awareness campaigns so that more workers can benefit from the initiative.
