RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday ordered an urgent and permanent solution to the water seepage issue at Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), during his unannounced visit. Accompanied by Tahira Aurangzeb MNA, the minister inspected areas affected by seepage and abnormal rise in underground water levels, particularly in the hospital’s basement.
Chairing a meeting, he was briefed by officials of C&W, WASA and the hospital administration, who identified elevated groundwater levels as the Primary cause of the issue.
The minister directed that a detailed scientific study be conducted to ensure a sustainable and long-term solution, instructing that organisations like NESPAK and UET be engaged for the purpose.
He stressed that water seepage was damaging to hospital infrastructure and warned that no delay in resolving the issue would be tolerated.
Khawaja Salman Rafique also toured various wards and interacted with patients, inquiring about availability of treatment facilities.
“The best possible medical care for patients is our top priority,” he said, adding that all necessary steps were being taken to ensure provision of quality healthcare services.
He emphasized that no compromise would be made on human health and directed hospital management to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
Later, during his visit to the Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) Rawalpindi, the minister reviewed ongoing development work and directed authorities to complete projects within stipulated timelines.
He underscored that no compromise would be made on the quality and pace of development, adding that efforts were underway to provide modern healthcare facilities in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Speaking on the occasion, Tahira Aurangzeb said the government was taking practical steps to ensure access to quality healthcare, adding that state-of-the-art facilities would be provided at the Mother and Child Hospital.
