RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar visited the Tehsil Sports Complex Dhobi Ghat Murree and reviewed available sports facilities, ongoing administrative affairs, and existing infrastructure on Sunday.
During the visit, concerned officials briefed the minister on various sports activities, operational matters, and requirements of the complex. He conducted a detailed inspection of all facilities and issued directives aimed at improving the overall standard and functionality of the sports complex.
The minister ordered the immediate repair and restoration of non-functional lights to ensure proper training and playing conditions for athletes.
He directed that the assigned contractor must complete the work within the stipulated timeframe, after which the Project Management Unit (PMU) would submit a compliance report.
He also instructed the immediate repair or replacement of the damaged basketball ring and the broken glass panel of the swimming pool. Emphasizing maintenance, he stated that keeping all sports facilities fully functional is a key responsibility of the department and must remain a top priority.
Taking notice of missing infrastructure, the minister directed officials to incorporate spectator shades, practice cricket pitches, GI fencing, and other necessary facilities into the development plan and initiate the required procedures for their provision.

He also instructed the Divisional Sports Officer to prepare comprehensive proposals regarding fee structures and staff shortages across sports complexes in Rawalpindi Division to improve administrative efficiency and service delivery.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the Punjab government is taking serious steps to modernize sports infrastructure and improve management of sports facilities across the province. He added that sports complexes would gradually be shifted toward a sustainable and self-sustaining operational model to ensure better maintenance and efficient resource management.
He further announced that the appointment of a Tehsil Sports Officer (TSO) for Murree would be processed on a priority basis to strengthen local sports administration and support athletes.
The minister reaffirmed that, under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government is committed to reviving sports grounds, engaging youth in constructive activities, and providing world-class sports facilities across the province. He reaffirmed the government's resolve to promote sports at every level and create greater opportunities for young athletes to excel at national and international platforms.
