FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Tuesday visited Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) and Children’s Hospital Faisalabad and assured early provision of angiography and MRI machines to further enhance diagnostic capacity.
He was accompanied by Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical education Azmat Mahmood and Chairman Chief Minister’s Advisory Committee on Cardiac Diseases Dr Farqad Alamgir.
At Children’s Hospital, Medical Superintendent Dr Aamir Naveed and other doctors briefed the Health minister about healthcare facilities and patient care.
The minister also chaired a meeting regarding Chief Minister Adult Cardiac Surgery Program while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir, MS FIC Dr Nadeem, surgeons and other officials were present on the occasion. Medical superintendents from Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawal Nagar, Gujranwala and Rahim Yar Khan joined the meeting online.
The meeting was informed that more than 800 cardiac cases were being handled monthly in Faisalabad.
Following the meeting, Khawaja Salman Rafique visited various wards of Children’s Hospital including Nursery, Neonatology, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Neurometabolic units.
He reviewed treatment facilities, interacted with parents of admitted children and inquired about quality of care being provided to the patients.
He directed hospital administration to ensure provision of the best possible treatment facilities and further improve healthcare services. He emphasized that provision of timely and quality treatment to children remained top priority of the government.
He said that under Chief Minister’s Children Heart Surgery Program, more than 12,000 surgeries had been performed so far while more than 1.6 million patients had been provided free dialysis services across Punjab during the current year.
Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood said that uninterrupted supply of medicines in hospitals was being ensured, adding that construction of a new hospital in Sargodha was progressing rapidly, which would help reduce patient burden on Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology.
He also announced that installation of modern MRI machines in public hospitals of Faisalabad would begin soon.
Dr Farqad Alamgir said that Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz was committed to providing the best healthcare facilities to cardiac patients and enhancing the capacity of cardiac institutes across Punjab.
