LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Punjab Minister for Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday visited the Rescue 1122 Headquarters, where he chaired an online meeting with District Rescue Officers from across the province to review monsoon preparedness, flood response plans and the department's operational readiness.
During the meeting, Secretary Emergency Services Department Dr. Rizwan Naseer gave a comprehensive briefing on recent monsoon-related emergencies and the department's preparedness for potential flooding. Officials informed the minister that 521 potential flood-related vulnerable locations have been identified across Punjab. Khawaja Salman Rafique also held detailed discussions with district rescue officers regarding flood response strategies and operational arrangements.
Addressing the meeting, the provincial minister said that, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Rescue 1122 has been equipped with the latest flood rescue resources to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

He directed officials to ensure timely early warning systems in areas located along rivers and vulnerable to heavy rainfall, stressing that providing prompt, effective and safe rescue services during emergencies remains the department's foremost priority.
Secretary Emergency Services Dr. Rizwan Naseer said Rescue 1122 has significantly enhanced its flood response capacity through modern equipment and advance planning. He said the department has been equipped with jet skis, aluminium rescue boats, life jackets and modern communication systems to effectively deal with possible flood emergencies. He added that trained personnel, advanced planning and modern rescue resources would ensure an efficient response during the ongoing monsoon season.
