MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) Acting on directives of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the district administration in Mirpur has intensified its campaign against substandard and adulterated food items, launching a crackdown across the lake district.

During the operation on Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner Mirpur Mian Hussam Sajid intercepted a large milk tanker at Jatlan that had reportedly originated from Punjab and was en route to Islamabad via Kahuta. The tanker, carrying approximately 5,000 litres of milk, was impounded by authorities.

According to a district administration spokesperson, the action was taken in line with restrictions on the supply of milk from outside districts. Initial testing indicated no presence of harmful chemicals; however, official samples have been sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis, and further legal proceedings will be initiated after the final report.

The tanker was taken into custody at the Jatlan police post following the inspection. Authorities reaffirmed that strict monitoring of food supply routes is being enforced to ensure consumer safety.
