Mirpur DHQ hospital treats 1,404 patients during Eid holidays, maintains full emergency coverage

MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th May, 2026) The District Headquarters (DHQ) Teaching Hospital Mirpur provided medical treatment and emergency care to 1,404 patients during the three days of Eid-ul-Adha holidays, hospital administration confirmed on Saturday.

According to Medical Superintendent Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Raja, all emergency departments remained fully functional throughout the Eid period under a specially designed management plan to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services. He said doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and rescue teams remained on duty and provided timely treatment to patients across multiple departments.

From May 26 to May 28, a total of 1,404 patients were treated, including 1,083 in Accident & Emergency, 177 in Cardiology Emergency, 53 in Gynaecology Emergency, and 91 children in Paediatric Emergency. On a daily basis, 442 patients were reported on the first day, 466 on the second, and 496 on the third day of Eid, reflecting a gradual increase in patient inflow.

Hospital data further showed that 110 patients injured in road traffic accidents received emergency care, while 96 patients were admitted for further treatment. Only one critical patient was referred outside Mirpur, while seven referred cases from other facilities were promptly received and treated. One death was reported during the Eid holidays. Officials also said that two complaints regarding staff behaviour were resolved immediately on the spot.

Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Raja appreciated the performance of the entire medical team, describing their service during the busy Eid period as professional and compassionate. He said the hospital remains committed to further improving emergency care and ensuring modern healthcare facilities for the public at their doorstep. Civil society representatives also lauded the hospital’s performance, praising its effective emergency response and patient-friendly services during the holidays.
