Mirpur population advised to take precautionary measures to avert threats of strong winds, gales, heavy rains next 10 days

MIRPUR (AJK) , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 31st Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mirpur Raja Muhammad Sadaqat Khan, in light of the recent advisory of the Meteorological Department, has appealed to the public to take precautionary measures due to the possibility of strong winds, gales and heavy rains in Mirpur district and its surroundings from April 1st to April 10, this year.

"As landslides may occur in low-lying areas during heavy rains, all relevant institutions will remain on high alert throughout the district to deal with possible emergencies, DC told APP on Tuesday.

He continued that Rescue 1122, Local Government Department, Health, Police and other relevant departments will be ready at all times to deal with any untoward incident.

The DC appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel, avoid going near low-lying areas and rivers, and take precautionary measures during bad weather. "In any emergent situation, people are requested to immediately contact Rescue 1122 or the district control room.

He directed the concerned officers to ensure their presence in the field to ensure continuous monitoring of the situation to deal with any potential threat in a timely manner.
