MIRPURKHAS, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) Provincial Minister for Tourism and Culture Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah announced plans to revamp, modernize, and revitalize the long-dormant Arts Council of Mirpurkhas, restoring it as one of the province’s prominent cultural centers. Moreover, the initiative aims to provide youth with enhanced opportunities for creative and literary engagement.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media after inspecting the Arts Council at Gulistan-e-Baldia on Monday, the minister highlighted that the Culture Department is taking practical, timely, and strategic steps across Sindh to promote cultural activities, preserve literary heritage, and empower young minds. However, the building had remained inactive for years and suffered deterioration due to weather effects, which will now be addressed through comprehensive restoration and renovation in consultation with experts from Culture, Archaeology, and libraries departments.

The minister revealed that a state-of-the-art digital library will be established, featuring books by local and national writers, poets, and researchers, while students will gain access to modern research and study facilities.

Furthermore, the Arts Council will host an art gallery, regular classes, exhibitions in calligraphy, painting, and fine arts, along with mushairas and literary sittings to promote urdu and Sindhi literature.

Therefore, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah emphasized that the Arts Council will become a platform for cultural harmony in Mirpurkhas, where diverse communities coexist. He assured that the institution’s administration and membership would be transparent, merit-based, and inclusive, with consultations held with local intellectuals, civil society, and media representatives to ensure the Council’s active and dignified role. The visit was attended by the Director Tourism and Culture, DG Libraries, DG Archaeology, Deputy Commissioner Nawab Sameer Laghari, and other officials.
