MNA Aleem Khanzada calls for solar street lights, safety barrier on Naya Pul to prevent accidents

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Member of the National Assembly of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Professor Engineer Abdul Aleem Khanzada has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of a 19 year old student Atif, who lost his life in a traffic accident while returning from an examination near Naya Pul.

In a statement issued here on Monday, Khanzada said the incident was not the first of its kind, adding that due to negligence on the part of the administration, police and LG institutions, Naya Pul had turned into a “bloody bridge,” where frequent accidents had claimed the lives of several youth, children and other citizens.

He called upon the Mayor Hyderabad, Deputy Commissioner and SSP to take immediate notice of the situation. He demanded installation of solar powered street lights on the bridge to prevent accidents caused by darkness, construction of a central safety barrier and deployment of traffic police personnel at the site.

He further urged strict action against overspeeding minibuses and other vehicles, as well as reckless motorcyclists, to ensure enforcement of traffic laws and prevent further loss of precious lives.
