MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2026) In a major step to improve public facilities, a meeting chaired by Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan
decided to construct modern washrooms near public places and markets on a phased basis to ensure convenience for citizens.
The meeting emphasized maintaining cleanliness standards at petrol pump washrooms round-the-clock, directing authorities to ensure availability of essential facilities including proper lighting, water, flushing systems, and soap. Immediate replacement of broken or damaged fixtures was also ordered.
It was further decided that selected petrol pumps on major highways would be upgraded with executive-standard washrooms. These facilities will include separate arrangements for men, women, and persons with disabilities. The private sector will also be encouraged to invest in developing modern washrooms at their own cost.
To enhance accessibility, the administration plans to introduce a digital system providing information about washroom locations to the public.
The commissioner also reviewed petroleum supply management, directing officials to assess demand and supply to prevent any potential shortages. District administrations have been instructed to submit detailed reports on their requirements and shortfalls, while maintaining close coordination with relevant departments to avoid any crisis.
Addressing governance issues, Aamir Karim Khan reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, particularly in the land registration process. He ordered strict timelines, improved monitoring systems, and proper training and counseling of revenue staff to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Accurate fee collection and complete record entry were also stressed.
To facilitate citizens, proposals including structured scheduling and SMS alert systems were discussed, along with enhanced field inspections to ensure accountability.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the e-bus project, directing authorities to accelerate the construction of waiting sheds while maintaining quality and ensuring timely completion.
In addition, instructions were issued to strengthen dog vaccination and registration drives, install manhole covers, and address civic issues on an urgent basis.
Officials were also directed to document all administrative measures, including work-from-home policies for field staff, and ensure proper reporting.
The commissioner concluded by seeking detailed progress reports from all districts in the next meeting, while deputy commissioners presented comprehensive briefings on ongoing initiatives.
