MURREE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi on Friday laid the foundation stone of a modern reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration plant on Mall Road, Murree.
The project, to be executed under the supervision of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Murree, aims to provide clean drinking water to both residents and tourists in the hill station.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shirazi said Murree was an internationally renowned tourist destination that welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, making the supply of safe drinking water a matter of critical importance. He added that the initiative would contribute to a healthier environment for locals and visitors alike.
A district administration spokesman stated that once completed, the plant would deliver water meeting World Health Organization (WHO) standards. The RO technology would remove harmful contaminants and pathogens, helping to prevent waterborne diseases.
He emphasised that the project reflected the administration’s commitment to public welfare and health, and assured that quality standards would not be compromised.
Local residents welcomed the move, expressing hope that the long-standing demand for safe drinking water in Murree would finally be met, further enhancing the city’s profile as a tourist hub.
