ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB) on Tuesday categorically rejected Afghan Taliban claims that Omid Hospital had been struck, stating the actual target was Camp Phoenix, a military ammunition depot located several kilometres away.
The ministry’s fact-checker pointed out that Omid Hospital is a multi-storied structure, unlike the military site that was struck, with attached imagery underscoring the clear discrepancy between the claim and the evidence.
Ministry further raised concern over why a purported drug rehabilitation centre would be situated alongside lethal ammunition storage within a military camp, a question that remains unanswered.
The noted that the Afghan Taliban’s official handle has deleted its earlier post and video claiming a “drug rehabilitation centre” was struck.
Ministry pointed out the removal followed multiple fact-checks that exposed discrepancies, raising questions whether the clip was artificially generated and why officials have now distanced themselves from the manipulated claim.
