Moon sighting meeting for Ramadan held in Peshawar

In Peshawar, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is meeting to sight the Ramadan moon, with fasting to begin nationwide together.

PESHAWAR: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb-18, 2026) Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, announced that the committee’s meeting to sight the crescent for Ramadan is being held in Peshawar today.

Addressing a press conference, he stated that the Ramadan moon would be observed in Peshawar and that fasting would begin simultaneously across the country.

He emphasized the importance of national unity, saying nations progress when they stand united. He added that hostile forces were attempting to destabilize Pakistan but vowed that no conspiracy would be allowed to succeed.

Referring to recent incidents in Islamabad and Bajaur, he condemned attacks on worshippers, stating that such acts are beyond the imagination of any Muslim. He reiterated that the message of “Paigham-e-Pakistan” declares suicide attacks as forbidden.

He further said that under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, the armed forces and the nation remain vigilant. He urged people to prepare for the holy month of Ramadan with devotion, adding that scholars from all schools of thought, astronomers, and experts have arrived in Peshawar for the meeting.
