MQM-P calls for renewed population census

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2026) Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan's Convener and Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has called for a renewed population census which ensured transparent headcount in Sindh.

Addressing his party's rally at Koh-e-Noor Chowk on Saturday evening, the minister said a fair census should ensure accurate count so that due electoral mandate could come forth as a result.

He reiterated that 65% of the province's population lived in the urban areas.

Siddiqui clarified that MQM-P was not withdrawing from its demand for a separate province in Sindh.

He also underscored the need of holding transparent local government elections which he said continued to remain their main demand.

The Sindh Organizing Committee's In Charge Saleem Razzak, MQM-P Hyderabad chapter's leader Zafar Ahmed Siddiqui, MPAs Rashid Khan advocate and Sabid Hussain Qaimkhani also spoke.

Siddiqui announced that MQM-P would hold another rally on July 26 in Mirpurkhas district.
