Muharram security arrangements remain satisfactory in Attock, majalis processions continue peacefully

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) Attock Police and the district administration have ensured effective security and administrative arrangements to maintain peace and order during Muharram-ul-Haram. From 1st Muharram to 10th Muharram, majalis and mourning processions are continuing peacefully across the district.

According to the Security Branch Attock, a total of 754 majalis are being held at 87 imambargahs across the district. Similarly, 145 Alam and Zuljinah processions will be taken out, including 29 licensed processions and 116 traditional and historical processions.

While sharing further details with APP, an officer of the Security Branch said that 66 majalis are being held in Saddar Circle, 70 in Hassanabdal tehsil, 113 in Fateh Jang tehsil, 325 in Pindigheb tehsil, and 120 in Jand tehsil.

He further stated that out of the 145 processions, 28 have been placed in Category-A due to security sensitivity. Responding to a question, he said that if all organizers of majalis and processions strictly follow the code of conduct, there is no reason why all religious gatherings and processions in every tehsil cannot be completed peacefully and smoothly.

He added that around 2,500 police officers and personnel, including QRF, Elite Force and volunteers, are performing security duties across the district. In addition to the security staff, Special Branch and other law enforcement agencies are also carrying out their responsibilities, while doctors and medical teams of District Headquarters Hospital and the Health Department are performing round-the-clock duties to provide medical assistance.
