MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Security agencies, police and district administration remained on high alert across Multan Division in wake of Muharram Muharram as authorities closely monitored religious gatherings and mourning processions to ensure peace and public safety.
Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Usman Gondal reviewed security arrangements for the main procession in Mumtazabad and later visited the Muharram Control Room at the Safe City Office. Deputy Commissioner Nauman Siddique and City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Dogar briefed them on law and order and the overall security situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan said all Muharram processions and majalis across the division were being held in a peaceful environment. He said the administration and police were maintaining strict vigilance and remained in close coordination with procession organizers and members of peace committees.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The commissioner said all major majalis and processions in the division had been linked to the Safe City surveillance network for real-time monitoring. He added that 344 majalis and 155 processions were being held across Multan Division on the 9th of Muharram, including 47 Category-A majalis and 16 Category-A processions.
RPO Usman Gondal said CCTV cameras had been installed at sensitive locations in all districts, while the entire division was being monitored through the Safe City camera system. He added that all relevant departments were fully prepared to respond to any emergency through the central control room.
Later, Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan and RPO Usman Gondal met members of peace committees and religious scholars at the Safe City Office and appreciated their role in maintaining communal harmony and promoting a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram.
