Vice Chancellor of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Tauseef Aziz met Secretary Transport Punjab Imran Sikandar Baloch to discuss the launch of the green Electrobus service in Multan and improved transport access for students
MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Vice Chancellor of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Tauseef Aziz met Secretary Transport Punjab Imran Sikandar Baloch to discuss the launch of the green Electrobus service in Multan and improved transport access for students.
During the meeting, the vice chancellor urged the provincial transport authorities to extend the upcoming Electrobus route to the university’s Laar campus, located about 25 kilometers from the city, and connect it with the Metro Bus service at BCG Chowk. He said the extension would facilitate students and staff, as the university is currently unable to operate its own shuttle service.
Responding to the request, Secretary Transport Punjab Imran Sikandar Baloch said efforts would be made to seek approval from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif through Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan for extending the service to the campus.
Officials expressed hope that the proposal would be approved, allowing the state-of-the-art green Electrobus service to operate between BCG Chowk Metro Station and the UET Laar campus for both students and the public.
According to the announcement, the first phase of the modern Electrobus service in Multan is scheduled to be inaugurated on May 26 by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The service will offer free travel for women, children, senior citizens and students, aiming to promote accessible and environmentally friendly urban transport.
