Murree Imposes 'Strategic Action Plan' for Eid Holidays: Section 144 enforced

Muree, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Murree Police has deployed a "Smart Crowd and Traffic Management Model" ahead of the anticipated arrival of hundreds of thousands of tourists during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays.

Under the strict enforcement of Section 144, the central city and Mall Road have been designated exclusive family zones, while strict legal action will be taken against aerial firing, the display of weapons, skating, and one-wheeling.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer, here on Thursday the strategic blueprint is driven by data analytics from last year’s Eid influx, which recorded 26,385 vehicles on June 7, jumping to 52,721 on June 8, and peaking at a record 69,218 vehicles on June 9 (the third day of Eid). The high volume persisted with 58,232 vehicles on June 10, followed by 49,642 on June 11, 46,176 on June 12, and 48,743 on June 13.

Dr. Tanveer finalized that a dedicated force of over 700 personnel, including 500 security professionals and 200 special traffic wardens, has been deployed to ensure law and order and seamless traffic flow.

For digital guidance, the "Safe Tourism Murree" mobile application has been rolled out, enabling tourists to access live traffic updates and utilize the "Text to DPO" feature for a direct communication line with the District Police Officer during emergencies.

"Moving away from traditional policing, our ultimate objective is to offer families a secure, organized, and world-class tourism environment," stated DPO Dr. Raza Tanveer.

Meanwhile, a travel advisory has been issued urging tourists to ensure vehicle fitness specifically checking brakes, tires, and engine conditions before embarking on the hilly terrain, while advising them to maintain strict lane discipline and avoid traveling during peak congestion hours on the second and third days of Eid.
