MURREE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) Authorities in Murree have issued a high-alert warning after eight days of torrential rain triggered multiple landslides in the hill station and surrounding areas.

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr Muhammad Raza Tanvir, said continuous rainfall had caused landslides and falling rocks at several locations. He said Jhika Gali, Lawrence College Road, Lower Topa and Dhirkot Sattian had been declared “high-risk” zones, while minor landslides and rockfalls were also reported on other hilly routes.

Tanvir said dense fog had reduced visibility and made roads slippery, heightening the risk of accidents. He added that he was personally overseeing operations in the field, with police and traffic personnel deployed at critical points to regulate traffic and assist in clearing debris in coordination with the district administration.

An emergency travel advisory has been issued, urging tourists and residents to avoid unnecessary movement. Drivers have been advised to use fog lights and maintain low speeds.

The DPO said traffic was being strictly controlled at vulnerable points to prevent any loss of life, adding that the emergency response mechanism was fully operational. He urged citizens to contact the Police Helpline 15 in case of any emergency.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department said cumulative rainfall during the period exceeded 100 mm, increasing the risk of further landslides due to soil saturation.
