The City Traffic Police Murree have issued a comprehensive and coordinated traffic plan for Eid-ul-Fitr holidays to facilitate the expected influx of tourists to the hill station
MURREE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The City Traffic Police Murree have issued a comprehensive and coordinated traffic plan for Eid-ul-Fitr holidays to facilitate the expected influx of tourists to the hill station.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Imran Razzaq, all possible facilities would be provided to the tourists during the Eid holidays, with more than 200 traffic personnel deployed to manage traffic flow.
The CTO said Murree, being a major tourist destination, “attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the country during Eid, and arrangements have been finalised to manage the traffic rush in line with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab and Additional Inspector General Traffic Punjab”.
He said five major roads, including Viewforth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kuldana Road and Ridge Bell Road, would remain one-way during the Eid holidays, while Mall Road would be completely closed to all types of traffic. Traffic from Rawalpindi and Islamabad would be routed via the Expressway and Murree-Kahuta Road.
Imran Razzaq said the city had been divided into five sectors for better traffic management, and guidance would be provided to the tourists through barriers, banners and pamphlets at all entry points.
He said strict parking restrictions would be enforced at key locations, including GPO Chowk, Bank Road up to Kohsar University, and adjoining areas, which would remain parking-free zones. The tourists were advised to park their vehicles only at designated places to avoid inconvenience.
The CTO said water tankers and food supply vehicles, except heavy trucks, would be allowed entry during specified timings from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city.
He said a control room had been established at Sunny Bank to address traffic-related issues and facilitate the tourists, who could also contact the helpline at 051-9269200 for assistance.
Imran Razzaq urged the tourists to check weather updates and traffic advisories before travelling and ensure their vehicles were mechanically fit. He also directed the CTP officers and personnel to perform their duties with dedication and a spirit of public service.
He advised the motorists to strictly follow traffic wardens’ instructions, road signs and traffic laws to ensure a safe and smooth journey.
