NA body of human rights met on Monday

The Committee expressed grave concern that government functionaries failed to play impressive role over the period of time for the protection of Child abuse, Drug abuse, Child sexual harassment, Child bagging, Human Trafficking and protection of orphans due to lack of coordination between the Ministries/Departments responsible to stop such social evils.

The Committee deemed that policies were confined to papers only as their implementation seemed to be invisible at gross root level. The Committee therefore, decided to invite Chairman NADRA, IG, Islamabad, D.G FIA in the next meeting so that concrete measures could be adopted to stop such crimes, in future.

The Committee endorsed the budgetary proposals of M/o Human Rights and its attached departments for the Fiscal Year 2026-27 and directed that M/o Human Rights may ensure the completion of their approved projects within given timeframe.

The Committee deferred “The Pakistan Climate Refugees Rights and Protection Bill, 2024” (moved by Muhammad Moin Aamir Pirzada, MNA) and decided to invite Chairman, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in the next meeting for in-depth analysis of the proposed legislation.

Earlier, Secretary, M/o Human Rights briefly apprised the Committee about the performance of the Ministry and problems faced by them in this regard. He sought support of the Committee in resolving their issues especially enhancement of budget allocation to produce desired results.

The meeting was attended by the MNA’s, Zeb Jaffar, Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Tamkeen Akhtar Niazi, Sehar Kamran, Naveed Aamir & Khawaja Izhar Ul Hassan, MNA/Mover (joined through Zoom Link) Danyal Chaudhary, Asiya Naz Tanoli, Shahida Rehmani & Sabheen Ghoury and Senior officers from Ministries of Human Rights & Law & Justice.
